The EU is introducing digital passports that carry a product's sustainability information. We are building support for them into ESGen, so the data you already keep can feed a passport when your products need one.
What a Digital Product Passport is
A digital record attached to a product, usually through a QR code, that holds information such as materials, carbon footprint, repairability and how to recycle it. Buyers, customs and recyclers can read it.
The rule behind it
The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, sets the framework for passports.
Product by product
What each passport must contain is set group by group in later EU acts, so dates differ by product.
Batteries have a date
Under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, larger batteries need a battery passport from 18 February 2027.
Built on your records
A passport needs the same evidence-backed figures ESGen already keeps, which is where our support will start.
